I have had this 36 x 48 canvas sitting around waiting for the inspiration to put paint on it. When I saw the Gardens from Monet to Matisse exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Art, I was inspired to whip out my many photographs of the gardens and pond to make a choice. I chose a vertical scene, used a bit of my artistic license, got up my courage to tackle something so large and began to paint. It is a gallery wrap (painted around the sides) and needs no framing.

Mary Ann Boysen, (440-667-7276) Chagrin Falls watercolorist since 1974, began her career when she moved there by doing sketches of local landmarks. Then she attempted painting in watercolor, which had been her desire since college. After studying with Florian Lawton, Lowell Ellsworth Smith, and numerous other experienced watercolorists from around the country, she blossomed with courage and determination to have this as her medium of choice. Having only studied watercolor for one year and three months, she won Best in Show at Gates Mills in April of 1975.
