Mary Ann Boysen Paintings, A Retrospective

Spanning 42 years of her painting career, she will be showing her work as it evolved subject, style, and media wise. She began with pencil sketches, all of which are sold or in private collections, then moved to traditional watercolor on 100% rag. As new surfaces were developed for watercolor, she tried everything from Strathmore Board, to R-tistx Board, to Watercolor Canvas. Later in her career she painted for a couple years in acrylics, then, when water mixable oils came on the market, she dived right into them! Even this late in her career, she thrives on learning new ways to create.

Her show will be from Sept 2 through Oct. 2, at the Solon Center for the Arts, 6315 SOM Center Rd, Solon, OH. She will be in attendance there on Monday evenings from 6 - 8 p.m. to meet others who might be interested in her work and career.

Mary Ann Boysen, Featured Artist

Mary Ann Boysen will be the featured artist in a new gallery slated to open Sept. 17 in the fully restored Bodenheimer-Mayer House, 204 N. Columbus St., Lancaster, OH.

"We are going to be a fairly unique fine arts and antiques gallery in Lancaster, specializing in high-end furniture built in the Ohio River Valley region and with regional artists that have established national reputations," proprietor Deward Watts said. "It's going to be high-quality, and it's been a while since we've had a place in Lancaster quite like this."

The roughly 1,000-square-foot gallery also will showcase original glass, ceramics and art pieces, which Watts said will complement the furniture offerings. The pieces will be rotated on a continual basis.

"It will be primarily impressionism and realism pieces that will be on display," he said. "We want the art and antiques to work together."

Despite the museum-like atmosphere, Watts said, everything in the gallery will be for...

She is represented by Imagery Gallery, 91 N. Main Street, in Chagrin Falls and the Bodenheimer-Mayer House Gallery in Lancaster, OH.

The show opens, August 29, 2014 and continues through September 24. A reception honoring her new venture will be held between services (10:15 a.m.), Sunday, September 14, in Fellowship Hall, located just off the parking lot in the rear of the church.
