Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

This is an image of an original oil painting on canvas from my 'Water Lilies' series, a sub-series of my Floral series. These glorious yellow centered pink flowers 'Sunfire' (botanical group nymphaeaceae) were blooming from spring to summer in ponds and lakes at the Chicago Botanic Garden, Illinois, one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in America. Although the water lily is a tropical plant, since the nineteenth century hybrids have been produced for temperate gardens.
Like many painters, one of my greatest inspirations is the paintings of the French Impressionist, Claude Monet. In particular, Monet's water lilies series, which I have had the pleasure to view in art museums in the USA, France and Australia, has been a continuous source of inspiration. I do not try to emulate such distinctive works, rather I keep them in mind or refer to them in books and my photos every so often as I work on the same or similar subjects.
